Serengeti Safari
Go on a Serengeti Safari and experience a soul-stirring feeling of space. Serengeti comes from the Masai word meaning 'Endless Plains'. It is these grasslands and savannahs that ensure that the area is jam-packed full of game. The Serengeti is well known for the wildebeest migration and every year two million animals move clockwise around this 14,763 sq km ecosystem in search of grazing and water.
The predators follow the wildebeest and zebra closely and a Serengeti Safari is an ideal opportunity to view lions and other big cats. Pin pointing and predicting the location of the wildebeest migration is challenging - but with a healthy resident population of animals, safari and game viewing within the Serengeti Game Reserve is great all year round.
This 15-day safari with optional safari extension of three days in the Masai Mara takes you on an exciting game and bird viewing adventure around some of Kenya’s most beautiful plains, lakes and game reserves.
Unspoiled wilderness, majestic mountains, the Great Rift Valley, brilliant game viewing and encounters with unique African cultures are all a part of this adventure packed safari.
From Arusha you'll drive to the picturesque Lake Manyara National Park to observe Lion, Elephant, Hippo and Buffalo before heading off across the spectacular Serengeti plains to the Olduvai Gorge, a world-renowned archeological hotspot. A few days later explore the unique eco-system of the Ngorongoro Crater, the greatest concentration of large mammals in Africa, before heading to the Amboseli National Park, a dry lake bed, and home to thousands of Elephant and a haven for birds. Continue on to Nairobi and then onto the Great Rift Valley, a gigantic lake studded fault stretching from Jordan in the Middle East to Mozambique in southeastern Africa. From Lake Nakuru National Park & Rhino Sanctuary skirt the forested slopes of Mount Kenya before descending into the hot dry heat of the arid Samburu Reserve to view some rare and endemic wildlife. Return to Nairobi or extend your trip and visit the Masai Mara – a natural wonder of golden plains, twisted thorn trees, and the most spectacular display of African wildlife.
