Noordhoek Cape Peninsula

Noordhoek has undoubtedly one of the longest, widest and most beautiful stretch of beach in the Cape.
The "Long Beach" extends over 8 kilometres to Kommetjie.
It is too vast to ever be crowded and is ideally suited for long walks.
In Winter, when the waves are higher, a lagoon forms in front of the dunes.

Noordhoek has been pleasantly quiet since the Chapman's Peak Drive was closed.
The mountain slopes are very green, densely overgrown with coastal fynbos.
Well groomed horses graze in the paddocks in the valley
. Beach rides are popular.
Beginners and experienced riders can rent horses at the "Sleepy Hollow" stable.
The people of Noordhoek love living in nature.
Their houses mostly fit in with the natural environment and are surrounded by Fynbos gardens.
Some houses are even overgrown by the lush vegetation. Many people here are ecologically and artistically involved.

The sea is always aggressive in Noordhoek, particularly when the wind blows from the west or north-west.
The northern end of the beach is rocky.
Huge boulders, rounded by wind and water, frame a little sandy bay called "The Hook".
This is a place for surfers.
The waves arrive in short sequence and are often several metres high.
